The Northwest Rio Grande Soccer League is planning to have games this weekend. This is subject to change as the situation with the coronavirius continues to evolve. The league is following the lead of the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association, which is its governing body. NMYSA has assured Northwest Rio Grande that it is closely monitoring the situation and are in constant communication with local government and the United States Soccer Federation to determine best practices. Based on the direction of NMYSA, any parent who does not want their child to participate in any event can do so without any repercussions from the coach, the league or the club. In addition, all NWRGSL officials are being instructed not to enforce the customary hand shake after the game. Coaches will be asked before the game by the official if they want to shake hands following the conclusion of the match.
We are committed to follow the Governor’s lead to make sure we contain the spread of the virus. We will keep the league’s clubs informed as things continue to develop.
